HCWs and their families face significant stress due to ongoing pandemic-related pressures. The final phase of this project will test the efficacy and feasibility of an evidence-based systemic intervention designed to improve mental health and family wellbeing, offering a practical, scalable solution for healthcare workers.

Building upon findings from Phase 1 and co-design process of Phase 2, Phase 3 will involve a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to assess the real-world impact of the developed intervention on the mental health, family functioning, and wellbeing of hospital-based healthcare workers (HCWs) and their families.

This phase will involve a RCT approach, with key research activities including:

  • Randomised selection and allocation to intervention or control protocols.

  • Intervention delivery: provide an intervention that provides support for mental health and family wellbeing in a flexible and user-friendly manner.

  • Evaluation: Mental health, family wellbeing, work-related outcomes (absenteeism and presenteeism). These evaluative assessments will take place before, immediately after and 3 months after intervention delivery to measure mental health and family wellbeing.

  • Intervention feedback and review: Researchers will continue to work closely with stakeholders gathering feedback on the interventions usability and scalability.

The findings of this phase will contribute to publication and knowledge sharing activities to improve the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare families.
