When you undertake a PhD or Master by Research with SEED, you’ll be joining Australia’s #1 university for educational experience.
As a SEED research student, you can be confident you’ll have the dedicated support you need from our experienced team of supervisors. Our supervisors are experts in preventative mental health care and clinical treatment of mental health problems, and many are registered psychologists.
Support for PhD candidates
Undertaking PhD is a highly rewarding, life-changing experience — however, we know the journey can be challenging. Which is why we’ve invested heavily to ensure all Deakin students are fully supported.
There are many ways Deakin delivers best-in-class support for its HDR students:
- Up to 400 scholarships available — allowing you to fully dedicate yourself to your study
- Flexibility to work around your current commitments — allowing you to study when and how you want
- We’ll provide you with writing mentors, you can join a thesis writing group, receive free consultations with a language and learning adviser, and utilise Deakin’s dedicated mental health support service
- Flexible learning plans designed to your specific needs — via our PhD Extra program. This includes accredited research training and career pathway placements, giving you valuable industry experience
- Assistance with grant applications, funding, and networking — including $3,000 to attend an international conference
- Co-enrol at two universities in different countries via our Cotutelle PhD initiative — allowing you to immerse in diverse research environments and cultures
